The most popular youth travel company in the world, catering for over 150,000 18-to -35 years olds per year. Contiki offers 350 different tours in over 75 countries. The experience is a mix of culture, adventure, extreme sports and socialising. 


The project: Manage an agency hand over and deliver a new lifestyle experience section to help boost sells and build brand awareness. Working with internal creative strategist's, marketing directors, lead UX designers and developers to create a playful, engaging experience to entice young travellers. The new site design saw an 8% conversion rate increase.

The modular board frame design was rolled out across four primary sections of, Discovery, Where we go, How we do it and multiple landing pages.


Each top-level board ‘Alpha’ opens by expanding down in a fluid animation CSS effect, to reveal the Open Alpha displaying subcategories. The model works for both desktop and mobile. On tap or click an in-page overlay slides up with details in blocks. 


Tapping or clicking on the blue block (1) will trigger an inline transition from ‘Alpha’ to ‘Open Alpha. The illustration below indicates the transition between these two states. Click here to see a video example taken from the live site.
